Chief Medical Officer's Report (Jul 2006)
On the 14th July 2006, the Chief Medical Officer reported on the future of medical revalidation and regulation.
On behalf of the Hailsham Chambers Professional Disciplinary Group, Nick Peacock has highlighted the following as being essential points in the report:
- The GMC's power to adjudicate over serious complaints should be taken away
- The GMC will continue to investigate and assess fitness to practise issues
- The standard of proof in fitness to practise cases will be the civil standard only
- Proposals for regular and effective revalidation
