Eva Ferguson

Eva enjoys a split practice specialising in professional negligence and liability and clinical negligence claims. She also undertakes some costs work. Eva is currently instructed in numerous high-value and document heavy lender claims defending solicitors, valuers, and LPA receivers.

Eva prides herself on turning papers around promptly and being easily available to clients by email, telephone or in conference. She provides a comprehensive and realistic assessment of the case and believes that the sooner such advice is given, the better the value for money for the client.   • Young (by her litigation friend) v North East Strategic Health Authority, Newcastle District Registry, July 2010. Martin Spencer QC leading. Substantial claim for brain injury suffered at birth in 1987. Settled first day of week-long liability only trial.
  • Joyce v Bowman Law Ltd [2010] EWHC 251 Ch.
    4-day trial before Mr Justice Vos. Defended licensed conveyancers where negligence for losing a developer the option to acquire additional land admitted. Of the claim for £620,000 only £38,000 awarded.
  • GMAC-RFC v Watson & Brown, 2009. Instructed with Spike Charlwood, Paul Mitchell and Mark Simpson QC defending solicitors in numerous claims arising from ‘sub prime' buy-to-let mortgage lending. Settled.
