Jane Mishcon

Jane's principal area of practice is clinical negligence. She is instructed on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants. Many of her cases are high value obstetric cases, but she deals with cases involving most clinical specialties. She is currently Head of Hailsham Chambers' Medical Law Group.

She is ranked as a Leading Junior in both Legal 500 and Chambers UK. She also represents healthcare practitioners at disciplinary hearings and practises in the fields of solicitors' negligence (arising out of matrimonial and clinical negligence/personal injury cases) and personal injury. She has chaired nine Independent Inquiries into homicides by psychiatric patients and recently chaired an Inquiry into alleged misdiagnosis in the histopathology department at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Farraj v King's Healthcare NHS Trust and Cytogenic DNA Services Ltd. Court of Appeal. (2010) 1 WLR 2139 (2010) PTSR 1176 : (2010) PIQR P7 : (2010) Med LR 1 : (2010) 11 BMLR 131. Successful defence (with Martin Spencer QC) of liability claim for wrongful birth.
  • WS v Dr VA Clinical negligence claim relating to an undiagnosed urethral stricture that resulted in amputation. Jane successfully represented the Defendant in the fully contested trial on liability in January 2010
  • MB v St Mary's NHS Trust [2007] Cerebral palsy case settled for 4.47 million. Acting on behalf of Claimant.
