Joshua Munro

Joshua has a busy civil practice, mainly in the areas of costs and claims against professionals. He always aims to provide clear and persuasive advocacy, and sensible and thorough advice.

In appropriate cases Joshua is able to accept instructions directly from business and individuals. He was called to the Bar in 2001 after taking the highest first in his year in English and Modern Languages at Oxford, and a commendation in the Diploma in Law at City University. Joshua speaks fluent Italian and visits Italy whenever possible.

  • French v Carter Lemon Camerons [2013] P.N.L.R. 2. Solicitors' entitlement to lien where retainer terminated following complaint by client.
  • Minkin v CFKT [2012] 3 All E.R. 1117. Joshua and Bernard Livesey QC acted for the successful appellant solicitors in what the Law Society Gazette called a "Landmark retainer case win."
  • Gossage v Bishton [2012] EWCA Civ 717 Joshua acted for the successful respondent in the Court of Appeal. The case dealt with the costs position where a Consent Order had been agreed settling all matters save for costs.
  • Letts v Royal Sun Alliance Plc [2012] 3 Costs L.R. 591. Joshua acted for the successful respondent in a High Court costs appeal with potentially wide implications. The case involved consideration of the predictive costs regime.
  • Lord Coleridge v Sotheby's [2012] EWHC 370 (CH). Auctioneer's negligence. Damages for negligent under-valuation of chattel.
