Double top - two new QCs named
26 February, 2010 - Hailsham Chambers welcomed today’s news that two senior members of chambers, Julian Picton and William Flenley, have both been appointed Queen's Counsel of England and Wales 2010.
The latest appointments take Hailsham’s QC tally to seven, propelling the set into the top-flight of London’s legal community and to the forefront in the fields of professional negligence and personal injury.
Martin Spencer QC, Head of Chambers and one of the first to congratulate the pair, described the appointments as; “very well-deserved” and “likely to increase options for clients and opportunities for all members of chambers”.
Both members were called to the Bar in 1988. Julian specialises in professional indemnity and personal injury. He has particular expertise in professional negligence clams arising out of mishandled personal injury and clinical negligence litigation. William specialises in professional negligence, contract and insurance law with particular expertise in claims relating to mortgage lending.
On hearing the news, Stephen Smith, Hailsham’s Senior Clerk said; “with members of chambers who focus on professional negligence or personal injury cases being in such high demand, these key appointments significantly enhance Chambers’ ability to handle an increased number of complex, high-value and high-profile cases.”
