Hailsham Chambers announces new tenant

June 2010

Hailsham Chambers, one of the leading civil and commercial sets of barristers' chambers, announces the arrival of a new tenant to provide increased national capacity and ‘local' counsel for clients outside of London.

By joining Hailsham Chambers, Andrew Axon, a Leeds based expert in clinical negligence and personal injury with a developing reputation for regulatory and disciplinary matters, enhances the already highly regarded and sought-after team and adds the ability to offer clients in the North of England, easy access to a leading London set.

Hailsham's innovative attitude and flexible approach allows the set to react quickly to the changing needs of clients. On inviting Andrew's application, Martin Spencer QC, Head of Chambers said: "as demand for members of Hailsham Chambers grows, we remain conscious of the need to offer clients the best possible value for money. Andrew's application supports this aim and will help to ensure Hailsham remains a preferred choice for solicitors wishing to control costs without sacrificing advice and advocacy of the highest standard."

On hearing the news that his application was successful, Andrew commented, "I'm delighted to be joining Hailsham Chambers at a time when their continued expansion is led by demand rather than their own appetite for growth. Hailsham Chambers has a superb reputation for quality and I am proud to be joining a set with such a respected pedigree."

Andrew was called to the Bar in 1992 and has been consistently ranked as a "leading individual" by Chambers UK and the Legal 500. He represents both claimants and defendants, is President of the Leeds and West Riding Medico Legal Society and is an advocacy trainer for the North Eastern Circuit. Continuing to service his established client base, Andrew will retain his current tenancy of Park Lane Plowden but he will be additionally supported by Hailsham's clerking team (T: 020 7643 5000)
