NHS investigations, reviews & inquiries
NHS organisations work under constant scrutiny and on those occasions when things do go wrong, people want to know why. Commissioning and managing an investigation is a risky business so to help those responsible, on 25 March 2010, more than 100 delegates gathered at Lincoln's Inn, London to attend a seminar, jointly hosted by Hailsham Chambers and Verita, the specialist investigative agency. The popular and quickly oversubscribed seminar was the latest event offered by Hailsham's highly-regarded Regulatory & Disciplinary Group.
The programme was chaired by Group Head, David Pittaway QC and speakers included Hailsham members Jane Mishcon and Derek Holwill who spoke, from their extensive professional experience, about the "role of an inquiry chair" and "avoiding legal challenge". Ed Marsden, Managing Director and Derek Mechen, Director of Client Work at Verita spoke in detail about the investigative process itself.
For those who missed the opportunity to attend and to gain CPD, a podcast of the seminar will soon be available from the Hailsham Chambers website. To register to receive invitations for future events, please sign up today.
