Spike Charlwood

Spike specialises in professional negligence and insurance law. He was named 2010 Professional Negligence Junior of the Year in the Chambers Bar Awards and is listed in the top tier of leading juniors for professional negligence in The Legal 500 and Chambers UK. He has appeared twice in the House of Lords (in Farley v Skinner and Dubai Aluminium v Salaam) and has wide experience of managed and group litigation, including GMAC v Watson & Brown (a lender's claim), Nationwide v Balmer Radmore (part of the 1990s mortgage lender litigation), Hobson v Ashton Morton Slack (an application for a Group Litigation Order) and the mediation of a further group of lender claims. Academically, Spike is the joint author of the chapter on barristers' negligence in Professional Negligence & Liability and the assistant editor of that work, has been a supervisor in tort at Queens' College, Cambridge and speaks and writes widely on professional negligence issues.
