For the healthcare sector, members of the Regulatory & Disciplinary Group advise NHS and professional bodies on regulatory issues, appear in the Administrative Court on applications for judicial review and often represent individuals before the General Medical, Dental and Nursing and Midwifery Councils.
The set’s specialist regulatory barristers also appear before the Family Health Services Appeal Tribunal, General Optical Council, Care Standards Tribunal, Health Professions Council, British Psychological Society and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Some barristers also sit as Legal Assessors for the General Social Care Council and as Legal Chairman of the Family Health Services Appeal Tribunal.
Representing members of the legal profession, Hailsham’s counsel frequently act for individuals before the Solicitors’ and the Bar Standards Board disciplinary tribunals and the disciplinary committees of the Association of Costs Lawyers and the Council of Licensed Conveyancers.
Outside of the healthcare and legal professions, members of the Group have experience acting before the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), the disciplinary board of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the disciplinary tribunals of medical and dental schools.
