Mini-pupillage

Mini-pupillage

Hailsham Chambers is now inviting applications for mini-pupillage for those who are interested in seeing how life in Chambers operates and the type of work we do at the clinical and professional negligence Bar.

Our mini-pupils will attend one of our Open Days, which will include:

reading and discussing some case studies in clinical and professional negligence,

  • lunch with some of our barristers,
  • meeting our current pupils,
  • a talk from a member of our Pupillage Committee.

Both days will be held in person to ensure that the experience is as rich and enjoyable as possible. We hope our mini-pupillage will give you a great insight into Hailsham Chambers and the work we do, and to discuss some of the issues involved in our work.

Our Open Days will be held on Tuesday 9 June 2026 and Monday 5 October 2026. We are offering space for 8 mini-pupils for each Open Day.

To apply, please send a CV and covering letter by 4pm on Thursday 30 April 2026 to lisa.Jenkins@hailshamchambers.com. Unfortunately, applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

If you are unable to attend one of our dates, please indicate which in your covering letter. However, please note that unfortunately, we are unable to offer a mini-pupillage outside of our set Open Days.

Expenses

We will reimburse your reasonable travel costs and will consider covering one night's accommodation costs for those who need to travel more than 2 hours each way.

Applicants are also referred to the Mini-Pupillage Grant Scheme offered by Lincoln’s Inn: https://www.lincolnsinn.org.uk/becoming-barrister/funding/.

Hailsham Chambers is committed to the furtherance of equality and diversity at the Bar.

In addition to our two standard Open Days, we will also be running a third Open Day reserved for applications from groups that are traditionally underrepresented at the bar.
