David started pupillage in September 2025 and is a second-six pupil under the supervision of Imran Benson.
David's first seat was in clinical negligence, where he was supervised by Catherine Ewins. In his second seat, under the supervision of Niamh O’Reilly, the focus was on professional negligence. In his current seat, David is continuing to hone his skills in professional negligence, in addition to gaining exposure to a breadth of commercial law and costs work. He has drafted various pieces of work in the fields of clinical negligence, professional liability and insurance law, including particulars of claim, defences, schedules of loss, counter-schedules of loss, skeleton arguments, advices and expert agendas. He has also attended hearings, client and expert conferences and settlement meetings.
David graduated with a first-class degree in Law from the University of Cambridge, has a postgraduate Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the University of Oxford and has undertaken judicial assistantships in the High Court and Court of Appeal. David is fluent in Spanish and has experience working in an American law firm on investor-State claims brought against South American countries. Immediately prior to pupillage, David worked as a paralegal in a commercial litigation boutique, where he worked on a range of matters. These included a contractual claim against an international mining company in the King’s Bench Division, a partnership dispute in the Chancery Division and a SIAC arbitration relating to a construction project in South-East Asia.
David began his second six on 8 March 2026 and is able to accept appropriate instructions. He has already acted in a number of Small Claims matters.
