Joe specialises in both professional negligence and clinical negligence.

Joe has particular experience in solicitors’ negligence, and additionally has experience of claims against surveyors, architects and accountants. Joe has acted successfully in numerous strike out applications in a professional negligence context, as well as at trial and on appeal.

In the course of his clinical negligence practice, Joe routinely appears as sole counsel in the King’s Bench Division. He has extensive experience of acting in, and achieving resolution of, high value claims. He also accepts instructions to act in inquests.

Joe undertakes a wide range of clinical negligence work and acts for both claimants and defendants. His recent experience includes:

  • Advising on the merits of a claim involving the loss of an eye.
  • Advising on the merits of claims involving delayed treatment of appendicitis.
  • Advising on the merits of claims concerning maternal care.
  • Advising on the merits of a claim concerning treatment of an osteochondral lesion.
  • Advising on the merits of a claim involving an avoidable caesarean section.
  • Advising on the merits of a claim involving delayed diagnosis of vascular issues.
  • Advising on quantum in a claim involving negligent treatment of a kidney stone. 
  • Advising on quantum in a claim involving negligent delay in the diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
  • Advising on quantum in a claim involving negligent administration of an intravitreal injection.
  • Advising in relation to non-delegable duties owed by a NHS Trust.

Joe has particular experience in solicitors’ negligence. His recent instructions include claims arising in relation to:

  • Representation provided in personal injury claims.
  • Representation provided in possession proceedings.
  • Representation provided in an application under the Insolvency Act 1986.
  • Representation provided in an application to the First-tier Tribunal Property Chamber.
  • Representation provided in an Employment Tribunal claim which was struck out.
  • A failure to seek revision of a costs budget in civil proceedings.
  • Execution of a charge in favour of a mortgagee in the context of a property purchase.
  • Advice concerning building regulations approval.
  • Advice concerning restrictions within a lease.
  • Advice concerning a personal guarantee provided in relation to a loan.

Joe has acted successfully for firms of solicitors in strike out applications, at trial and on appeal.
