Probationary Tenancy

Hailsham Chambers invites applications for a probationary tenant to commence in September or October 2025, with a view to joining our award-winning team. We are primarily seeking applications from applicants who are due to complete pupillage in 2025, but will consider applications from other candidates who we believe have the potential to become successful members of Hailsham Chambers.

We are looking for a motivated, ambitious candidate who can demonstrate excellent intellectual ability, persuasive communication skills and a genuine interest in one or more of our core areas of practice: professional liability, medical law, commercial and costs law.

Applications for probationary tenancy will be judged according to the selection criteria used in our pupillage selection process, which are set out on the “what we look for” section on our Pupillage page.

The probationary tenancy will be structured so that the successful applicant can expect to be in Court regularly, but will also be provided with plenty of paperwork, together with training in Chambers’ core areas of practice.

We provide an award of £40,000, which comprises a grant of £20,000 and guaranteed billed earnings of £20,000 over the six month period of the probationary tenancy. We also offer support from a supervisor and a mentor throughout the probationary tenancy.
