Clare accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ core practice areas and has a busy practice of court hearings and paperwork.

She is regularly instructed to draft pleadings and strike out applications as well as advise, on paper and in conference, in clinical negligence, personal injury and professional negligence claims. She also represents parties at trials, interlocutory applications and CCMCs in the County Court and High Court, including the Circuit Commercial Court.

Recent instructions include:

  • Advising and drafting in relation to clinical negligence claims involving allegations of surgical negligence, consent, and claims brought under the Fatal Accidents Act
  • Advising and drafting on clinical negligence claim including allegations of battery
  • Drafting advice for the Court in relation to an infant settlement approval in a clinical negligence claim
  • Advice on liability and contribution and drafting in a conveyancer’s negligence claim, which included allegations of fraudulent misrepresentation against the seller
  • Advising on quantum and merits and drafting in a loss of chance claim arising from an underlying dental negligence claim
  • Advising on and preparing a strike out application in relation to a claim brought against Estate Agents
  • Acting for a consultant who provides services relating to public procurement
  • Acting for insurers in a dispute about the construction of a policy

Additionally, Clare is experienced in inquests, having spent four months seconded to the advisory team of a leading healthcare law firm. This role included advising on legal issues and preparation of evidence, and representation at PIRHs and inquest hearings.

Prior to pupillage Clare worked as a litigation assistant at a leading medical defence organisation, assisting an in-house litigation team of solicitors with medical and dental negligence claims. Clare also supported the regulatory team at GDC hearings.

Clare is committed to pro bono work and takes on cases through Advocate which has included advice and drafting on matters relating to data protection, professional regulation, judicial review and recovery of costs. Clare also volunteers on the AvMA helpline.
